Conundrum Hot Springs

Conundrum Hot Springs is a set of primitive hot springs in the Colorado Rockies that offers a therapeutic soak in a natural environment, surrounded by scenic views of waterfalls, flowers, snow patches, and steep avalanche chutes. Accessible only by a nine-mile hike up Conundrum Creek Trail, the hot springs are positioned at 11,200 feet of elevation near Castle Peak, surrounded by the Maroon Bells. The hot springs offer several pools of varying sizes and temperatures, averaging at 100° F, with the smaller pools being slightly cooler. Overnight camping is available near the springs, and it’s best to show up early to claim a spot. The best time to go is late spring to mid-fall, and some important information is that Conundrum Hot Springs does require a permit for overnight users.
