Ohio City, CO is a partially abandoned town located northeast of Gunnison, which was established in the early 1860s as a gold mining town. After the depletion of gold reserves, the town was deserted until the Colorado Silver Boom in 1879, when a significant vein was discovered, and the town was revitalized. Unfortunately, after the Silver Boom ended in 1893, Ohio City was once again abandoned. In 1896, prospectors returned and found the source of gold from the 1860s. Mining continued until around 1916 when the profits diminished.
