Gilman

Gilman is a ghost town in Colorado that was founded in 1886 as a mining town for silver and later lead and zinc. It is located on the side of Battle Mountain, overlooking the Eagle River. It was founded by John Clinton as a company town for the silver miners. It operated for nearly 100 years, however it has a history of toxic pollution from the mining operations that led to its abandonment and the EPA declaring it off-limits in 1984. The town is on private property and not accessible to the public, but there are scenic overlooks to view the town from.
