Columbine
In 1881, the discovery of gold in the Tom Thumb and Royal Flush mines sparked a rush of people to the Hahns Peak area, known as the Columbine Stampede. The town in the area was located on the stage route from Steamboat Springs to Laramie, and it had basic facilities such as a school, general store, and saloon, as well as many cabins. Today, many of the buildings still exist and have been renovated after the town was recognized for its historical significance.
