Bachelor City is a ghost town located in the Rio Grande National Forest north of Creede. The town was originally named Teller but was referred to as Bachelor City by its residents, who had hoped to name it after Bachelor City, California. However, a conflict with the government prevented this. The prosperous period of the town was short and once the silver ran low the population moved to the larger, nearby town of Creede.
